This kit contains more than one product. OSHA allows a kit SDS that lists the parts and points to the SDS for each hazardous chemical. Ship this cover plus PP-SDS-CUSO4-001 and PP-SDS-PAINT-001 with every kit (print, email, or listing download).

Section 1 — Identification

Section 2 — Hazard identification

The kit as a whole is classified from the most severe chemical inside it: copper sulfate pentahydrate.

Harmful if swallowed. Causes serious eye damage. Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Conductive paint adds copper-bearing aquatic hazard. Anodes and wire are solid copper articles (see PP-SDS-CU-ANODE-001).

Label the outer kit: Danger · copper sulfate inside · wear eye protection · not a toy · SDS enclosed.

Not included (buyer supplies): DC power supply, distilled water, tank, PPE. Those have their own hazards (electric shock, acid if the buyer adds sulfuric acid — PrintPlating does not pack battery acid).

Sections 4–8 — First aid, fire, spill, handling, PPE

Follow PP-SDS-CUSO4-001 if crystals or bath splash. Follow PP-SDS-PAINT-001 if paint spills. Minimum kit PPE: splash goggles, chemical-resistant gloves, ventilation. Eyewash access. No food in the plating area. Keep children and pets out.

Section 9–10 — Physical properties / stability

Kit is a mixed package. Do not store the sulfate bag open. Do not freeze the paint. Keep the kit dry and upright. Do not combine leftover chemicals into unlabeled bottles.

Section 11–13 — Toxicology, ecology, disposal

See component SDS. Spent plating solution is copper-bearing wastewater. Never dump baths in household drains, storm sewers, or on soil.

Section 14 — Transport

The sulfate packet can make the finished kit a Class 9 environmentally hazardous shipment (UN3077) if the net quantity of sulfate meets the carrier’s threshold. Confirm net grams in your packed kit against DOT / USPS / Amazon DG rules before you ship. Paint may separately be UN3082 if the bulk SDS requires it. Anodes as solid copper sheets are ordinarily not DG.

Section 15 — Regulatory

Not a FIFRA pesticide. Adult workshop product. CERCLA RQ 10 lb as cupric sulfate — a single kit is far below RQ, but do not aggregate waste carelessly.

Section 16 — Other information

This cover is not a substitute for the sulfate and paint SDS. If a customer asks “the SDS,” send all three files: KIT + CUSO4 + PAINT (and anodes if they ask).
